Our Story

It all began in 2015, when we built our first unconventional custom bikes under the name Vélowland. With handcrafted frames, carefully selected components, distinctive paintwork, and premium accessories, we created design bikes unlike anything else on the market. That signature style brought us into contact with the founders of l'Hirondelle Bike Shop in Paris — a collaboration that grew into friendship, and eventually into our own shop in the Netherlands.

In 2018, we opened Hirondelle Bike Shop Meppel in a lovingly restored 1930s building that quickly became a gathering place for cycling enthusiasts. Our ambitions soon outgrew the space: in 2021, we moved to the historic Schultehuis on the Kruisstraat — a monumental building in the heart of picturesque Meppel. The creative spirit of those early days is still very much alive here.

A Family Business with Character

Hirondelle Bike Shop Netherlands is a small family business run by Sjoerd and Oscar Linde. Their father Roel (75!) still works in the workshop every day — because passion for cycling knows no age. Puk, our all-rounder, handles sales, customer service, repairs, and maintenance. In 2026, Puk also opened Skate Shop De Mug under our roof. With Jan from Glorie Bike Lab, we offer professional bike fitting and years of racing expertise. No sales pitch, no rush — just honest advice and a genuine love for the craft.

A Place to Discover

Our shop is more than a bike store. It is a place to discover, to enjoy, and to be inspired. An urban bike shop for those who want something a little different: the finest bikes, cargo bikes, components, and accessories, brought together with knowledge and passion. On the car-free Kruisstraat, you can test ride right outside our door. Coffee is always ready.
